Day 162-163 – The Calm Before The Storm

This was my last weekend off before the Fringe. In fact, it’s also strange that this was the only full weekend off I’ve had in a long time. Not counting my planned holiday, of course.

There are many relaxing things I could have done, but the two that stood out this weekend were simple.

– Quiet time with a good friend, with the highlight being a few episodes of Doctor Who on the telly. It has got to be one of my favorite shows ever. I should devote an entire “beautiful” post to it one day.

– A change is as good as a rest. My mom says that. Funny that I completely agree with her, especially when I go home. Sitting outside with a glass of wine, chatting to my Dad and my husband, watching kids run around the backyard. Awesome.

Day 162 – Grapes

After a long day of work, I picked up my little ladies from daycare and brought them home.  My hopes of throwing myself on the couch were dashed when my cell phone rang alerting me to an imminent phone interview.  Such is the life of a festival producer.

But there was beauty in all of this.  After the phone interview, I was treated to a backyard picnic dinner made by my husband.  Sipping Corona, eating a veggie burger and watching the kids play with dirt was just the end to the day that I needed.   And it was made even better when Lil B spontaneously decided that she was going to share her grapes with me.

She quietly sat on my lap, gently feeding me every second grape from out of her bowl with such a sweet smile on her face.  Just lovely.

Day 155-161 – All Grown Up

Apologies for the lack of updating. I finally took some time off. I’ve been told it’s also called a “vacation”. Strange word. Anyway, I’ve been having a blast the past week and will now happily share photos galore of my adventures.

Day 155 – After a couple of months of failed attempts, I finally got together with two of my Tweeps for an afternoon of shopping. This was a beautiful moment for me for many reasons. 1) I essentially know these ladies best through Twitter. We have the same circle of friends, but aren’t actually “friends”. I sense that this will change. 2) Jes is hoping to break out of her 9-5 and go into the personal shopping/styling/fashion guru business and wanted to test out her skills on Nadine and I. How cool is it to have someone helping you who has an awesome sense of style and who understand your needs and your budget? Pretty damn cool, I’ll tell you that. For under $400, I have a solid summer wardrobe that will easily transition to Fall and should be classic enough to transfer to next summer too.

I’m such a girl!

Day 156-160 – I was only on a trip for 3 days, but the memories are still with me. A great friend of mine and his fantastic fiancé invited us to their lakeside cottage. When I said cottage, I mean a proper log cabin, but with the perks of running water, toilet, stone fireplace and a kitchen big enough to make some mighty good meals. Here are some shots of the awesomeness that was my time off.

First boat ride

The fireplace (It sure was helpful when the temp dipped under 10 degrees)

There's nothing quite so beautiful as a happy baby after a spaghetti dinner.

And it has slide and swing set. AJ was sold!

A walk in the woods (flower picking and wild strawberry eating ensued)

The sun finally came out.

Chilled Out Family

Day 161 –

In honor of the women in my family…

In honor of my bi-cultural and bilingual heritage…

In memory of my first Fringe as Executive Producer…

In celebration of being a strong, sexy and confident woman…

I present to you, my first tattoo.

Day 152 – Getting High

Today, the Fringe was officially launched.  Tickets are now on sale for performances running from June 17th to the 27th.  Forgive me if this sounds like an advertisement.  It’s not meant to be.

…though business-Natalie can’t help but spread the word as much as possible…

I’ve been shaking all day.  The excitement was almost unbearable.  This sounds so cliché, but it was true for me today.  I was so proud of the people I work with.  I was elated at the audience response.  I was exhausted from the prep work.

I was high.

Over 8 hours later, I’m just now coming down.

I’m going to make sure I enjoy this high over the next 27 days, because it will all be over much too soon.
